Remember when we were Kings
when Angels were wings spread
around us so
where lands we pervade
reached far and wide
and on horse back we rode
fair maidens bode us safety
and rejoiced our safe return
where feasts great were held
as raging fires lit the nite sky
an the bards sang of victory
of foreign lands
far and wide
by ancestors before us so
hawks flew high and far
and hounds ran at our feet
as we waved to the masses
who served us loyally
with no complaint or reason to fear
when we Kings and you were our Queens
and the beauty we brought
hushed a great hall and silenced
a vast under-croft
as wine was raised in pewter goblets
in good health and honour
to lay in beds like that
of a large ocean
comforted by silks
from far eastern worlds
as gardens tended and rivers ran
peacocks announced the arrival of the morning
as the hunt began
courts held to meet and greet
and treasures shared
that produced knowledge and wealth
for those and all
willing to embrace
when we were but surely Kings
