that reminds one self
of life and the emotion of life
love frustration
hope happiness
and even the darkness of life
itself within and out
how the notes can lead us
to the moon and stars
to the centre of the earth
and all the way back again
a timeless journey
that doesn't end
until the music stops
be it strings or chords
melodies and beats
to pianos and drums
to flutes and harps
all play a sound
that resounds deep within
the soul and heart
of man and woman alike
some will make you dance
some sit an stare
others drift away to other plains
whilst many just feel
and move
as if Fred Astaire
music is a language
a speech of its very own
that can express mean so very much
one meaning to one
another to someone else
from the beating of a drum
to the shrill of a flute
each a unique sound
upon the ear
a sound or two
can bring a happiness galore
and so the next time
a song plays
ask yourself why
you like it so
then close your eyes
and
simply feel
to me ... is like as if
I am stood in the river of life
and it moves under my feet
