Sunshine days
as flowers bloom
smiling on me so
waving their petals
as if hands to see
birds sing high in the trees
as the cool shade
filters the light
down on me so
bees hum on by
collecting the summer fruits
a labour worth
its weight in gold
the cats lay as if no energy
sleeping basking
in the bright warm light
a book or two
or maybe just a cold drink
as one sits and reflects
on this little slice of heaven
a smile a laugh
as people gather
to share the food harvested
fresh fruits and creams
laughs aloud
as another wine is surely poured
the hint of apple
as the cider is passed
perhaps another slice
oh go on then
twilight beckons from beyond
as the sky lights up
in a mirad of reds and yellows
as the sun says goodnight
and the birds sing goodbye
to a day so glorious
knowing tomorrow
is but another day
in my little garden of Eden
